In Partnership with LAUSD’s Beyond the Bell Branch, “KYDS” offers culturally relevant programming that is tailored to children's interests and developmental stages as well as the specific needs and desires of parents, schools and communities.
The development and implementation of “KYDS”, programming is based on feedback from students, parents, teachers and school principals. Participants continue their involvement in program planning through surveys, focus groups and youth "advisory councils" where ideas for future programming are developed.
“KYDS” programs offer a wide variety of structured classes and special events that are fun and interactive. State Content Standards are incorporated to reinforce school day learning. Activities are designed to help children enhance their academic skills, fitness levels, social skills, self-esteem, conflict resolution and leadership abilities, while they develop new interests and hobbies.
“KYDS” School based after school programs are offered FREE of charge. A FREE nutritious snack is provided daily. Funding is provided by CA Proposition 49, supplemented by various government grants, private sector grants and donations. For more details about KYDS after school classes and events click here.
