Career Days
KYDS” organizes local business leaders and students from local High Schools to tour businesses. Students are able to ask questions and receive first hand advice from successful businesses and employees. While being exposed to actual work settings, students learn about career options, work ethics, and the daily challenges of specific professions.

KYDS Future Fair

Career Development Field Trips
KYDS” sponsors career development fieldtrips to the NASCAR Career Fair, Edward Davis Police Academy, Elysian Park Police Academy, Canoga Park Fire Department, and West Valley Occupational Center. These field trips emphasize the training and steps young people need to take in order to qualify for employment in these fields.

Family Fun Nights
Children and families, school administrators, faculty, and “KYDS” staff come together to raise funds at local restaurants. Funds go directly to the school program that sponsored the event.

Red Ribbon Week
Red Ribbon Week is an annual event raising awareness regarding the need for alcohol, tobacco and other drug and violence prevention, early intervention, and treatment services. “KYDS” participates by wearing red ribbons throughout the week and scheduling guest speakers to visit schools and promote violence and drug free lifestyles.

Children’s Dental Health Month
February is National Children’s Dental Health Month. “KYDS” educates children about healthy dental health habits by providing the American Dental Associations Smile Smarts Oral Health Curriculum after school to elementary school students, scheduling guest presenters, and offering dental screenings.

Financial Literacy Month
Financial Literacy Month occurs each April in an effort to highlight the importance of financial literacy and how to establish and maintain healthy financial habits. “KYDS” participates by offering - "Money, Money, Money", our financial literacy education program to middle school students after school.

Big Sunday & Make a Difference Day
KYDS” is involved in the annual - "Big Sunday and - Make a Difference Day", where students and adults get together and clean up a specific area of the community by picking up trash, pulling weeds, painting, removing graffiti, etc. The event is geared to bringing the community, businesses and organizations together to celebrate volunteerism while working towards the common goal of improving and increasing pride in our city.

Lights On Afterschool Celebration
The Lights On Afterschool Celebration is a yearly event hosted by the Los Angeles Unified School District, Beyond the Bell Branch, which recognizes and celebrates after school program providers and participants. It aims to bring attention to the need for after school programs that keep kids safe, help working families, and improve academic achievement. Arnold Schwarzenegger is the National Chairman of the event and is the keynote speaker. “KYDS” is one of the many after school programs invited to showcase program offerings at the event.

Los Angeles Walking Tour
The Los Angeles Walking Tours, sponsored by the Los Angeles Metro Transportation System. The fieldtrip promotes the public transportation system and educates students on the different ways of traveling in Los Angeles. Students take the Rapid Transit Bus to the Burbank subway station. They then take the subway to Union Station located in downtown Los Angeles. From there, they walk to several points of interest including: Pershing Square, the Los Angeles Public Library, Olvera Street, Chinatown, Angels Flight, the Bradbury Building, and other state and federal buildings. The students stop for lunch at the famous Felipe’s restaurant.

Community Art Projects
KYDS” has received and, continues to apply for, private grant awards to fund community mural projects, youth-driven video projects, spoken-word poetry recordings and other artistic endeavors.
